My first 10/22 built Pictures Heavy *Dlask Range Report*

Glad to see I'm not the only one with a build like this in mind. Also nice to see that it turns out look just as awesome if not more awesome than I was expecting.

I'm just looking at this again and i'm wondering is your barrel channel opened up enough? It looks like the barrel is angled upwards but it could just be the pic. I still really like this build though.

Well it's been a while ... My first day at the range was not very good the gun was very unreliable, which made it almost impossible to use with the bentz chamber.

Problem was that I started my project with a use rifle ... a very well used rifle. All the Bolt components where worn out.
I ordered a new part from Select fire on ruger1022receiver.com
New firing pin with spring and new extractor did the trick. I also added a V-Block and a bolt buffer.
Brownells finally got the VQ hammer kit back in stock so I bought also. WOW ! what a difference for $32, It's a must. I am not shooting another 10/22 without this hammer or better.

So here we are ready to shoot.
I still haven't tried to many different types of ammo.

-Winchester Wildcat work Ok, but seems to start acting up after 200 rounds.
-Winchester 200 years commemorating Feed fire and extract 98% of the time.
-Federal dunno which one was given to me in a bag. 100% reliable
-Remington Thunderbolt seems to work when they want. A lot of FTF. I still have 2 bricks :-/
-CCI Green Tag 100% reliable most accurate also.

At 50 yards, very windy, with a 8X scope 10 rounds

Overall I love the rifle. this one is a Keeper :)

Wow! Great rifle and great shooting bud! I have the same barrel in 16.5" on my dar22.
I too use federals cause they cycle 100% until about 3-400 rounds when the chamber starts to foul. But a quick spray in the barrel from chamber, followed by bore snake and it's good for another couple hundred rounds.

I haven't had time to properly and comfortably bench this rifle to see what it's capable of
But I know it'll take out spray paint cans at 200 yards, every time!

I have been contemplating a very similar build for the last few months and after seeing your results I'm definitely gonna move ahead with it. Thanks for the post and the pics...sick looking rifle. How does the rifle feel in terms of weight/maneuverability vs. the stock 10/22?
