You lousy b@ßtard. Irresponsible, naughty boy....

You should know that ####ography is frowned upon on this forum and above all, you should know that the costs of underwear is going up and worst is that the best excuse at the office one can now come up with is, ''I'm getting old and my bladder has a mind of its own''

Are you going to further coat it to a shinier finish? In some ways I liked the raw unfinished project look too...

Winz,

I think I am going to leave it the flat/satin finish now. I must say that armacoat is great stuff. In grey it makes the gun look like a Navy Destroyer. No have to clean up the kitchen before the wife comes home. All and all I had a productive day off.

The last item I am going to add is a guide rod group gripper. Another member suggested it.

Thanks for your comments. This was fun. I may build another one now.

Cheers

Can I take this gun to the range to test it with it registered as a reciever?

Absolutely. You have 30 days to notify the CFC of any change in the status of a firearm (eg. frame to complete gun, calibre change, barrel length change, etc.). However, as only you know when the 30 day clock started ticking, only you know when the 30 days is up. If you take the slide off (or say you did) and then replace it the 30 days clock starts all over again.

For this reason you don't need to be in any rush to re-register it.

I used Armacoat from Barret Arms in Alberta. This stuff is Awesome! It is a two step process (enamel and hardener). It comes in many colours. You can check it out at www.armacoat.net

Air cured then baked for 1 hour in the oven at home. Did it in 3 hours. Prep work is the key. 120 grit then 180 grit complete wash and degrease then wash again and heat to dry, then spray away. It does a great job on covering minor metal imperfections as I used a Norinco slide.

Cheers

willwagspal,

Thanks for the information. I called the CFC about this as well. When the gun is completed I need to change the reg from receiver to handgun. DLask told me as long as I am still working on it I can keep the receiver designation.

I think I will call the CFC once I get the recoil guide rod installed.

Cheers,

They recommended sandblasting or very thorough hand prep. I just hand prepped it. This stuff likes a rougher surface to stick. It builds up quick as well. I laid it on thicker around wear points and thinner on the frame rails etc..

Abman,

Since it is registered to me I can take it to the club on my ATT but I did that once just to test it. Once I get the last part from Brownells it will be registered as a Dlask Handgun instead of Dlask frame.

I would recommend Dlask frames to anyone for 260.00 bucks plus tax it is a great basis for a build.

I was very low tech. Amrmacoat sells a 4 oz finishing kit that come with a propellent cartridge. I just used that. Armacoat is so forgiving it coats well and lays down very even. The only trick I did was to sit the jar in a little hot water for a few minutes to thin it for spraying.

Once it is baked it is hard as a rock as well. You also asked about the sites.
I reversed them, they were simple white dot sites. As the gun is very light coloured now I blacked out the white dots. The sites are very visable this way.

I forgot,

I hung it to paint. Dowel though slide, wire on frame. Once it air dried at 35 minutes I put it on a cookie sheet and baked it for an hour @ 250F

how hard would it be to change the sights if you wanted? if you spayed with the sights off would there be enough room for new sights to be installed? Xray
