My first 9mm pistol boiled down to these choices. What do you think - I'm a lefty

I would tweak the list to;

Beretta 92 >SIG 266
Glock 17 gen4 >M&P 9
CZ P-07 >Springfield Armory XD-9 4" service
CZ 85B or CZ 75B
Taurus 809 SS, sure give it a shot!

One of the most overlooked guns but very very well built & only $600

I've been shopping around for a first pistol as well. M&P 9 is what I will start with. And it appears to be pretty good for left handed shooters as well. I can't find a better value out their for 9mm pistol new. The range kit seems to have it all.

Not a lefty, but I'll +1 the grand power pistols. Fully ambi, and a treat to shoot. You can get the Mk7's for a pretty good price right now...

Cz85 for sure I'm a lefty and it's perfect for us. I have owned 2 of them and love it so much.. Slide release, safety and mag release are all on the right side of it.

I'm a lefty and couldn't be more happy with my Ruger SR9. Ambi controls and fits like a glove, add that to great accuracy and reliability. I highly recommend!
Best of luck and enjoy whatever you buy!

What's your budget and goals?

Do you want to try lots of different guns and then end up with a PPQ or Grand Power?
Or would you prefer to just start with 2 of the best newer designs of today...... :)

Well I pulled the trigger (pun intended) today and after handling an M&P 9 and a Ruger SR9 I bought the Ruger SR9. It fit me better than the S&W. Like somebody said at the beginning of the thread try them all at the range first. Didn't shoot them, but I did handle and try them for fit. You all know how you can tell pretty quickly when something just fits correctly.
And to answer a question. I meant a SIG 226 not 266. My typing finger slipped. Sorry about that.

The SR9 is a good value pistol and if you sell it down the road at some point you can recoup most of the cost which is nice!

Enjoy your new pistol!

You just made the most addicting purchase of your life.
