Well it is a little rough and a common code but it has one unique feature that really caught my eye. The 44 has been double stamped for some reason. I think it adds a little rarity to a common code. It is probably one of a kind.

All parts match, bolt is an FN manufactured kriegsmodell type bolt complete with crude machine marks and round gas ports. It has a bright bore but I'll probably never shoot it.

very nice, interesting in that its h block with the serial# on the barrel and not the reciever. may have been assembled in the late days of the war.

Great late-war snag! Did you find it here, or import it?

I imported it. I wanted something specific (byf 44) and didn't want to wait 10 yrs for one to come up for sale here. Prophet River did the import for me did a tremendous job of course.

And yes the serial numbering on the barrel or receiver kind of jumped back and forth I believe.

I figured as much. I too have used PR to get stuff that just doesn't turn up here in the North ;)

I'll bet you paid a good deal less than Canadian market value too ;) Last nice K98k vet bringback I was considering buying (duv 42) was only $1250 (though a lot more after importing fees). A far cry from the $1800 it would have brought up here. I had to pass though - too many other irons in the fire at present, including several inbound imports ;)

Thats a good example of a K98k and the fact it is all matching is a bonus.

I recently picked up a byf 41, Norwegian K98k in 30-06 and was really surprised it was all matching metal.
I think I have all the major rifles I can afford for my collection.

I have a couple of deals to clear up and then I will only concentrate on selling truck guns and duplicates in my collection.

Down the road I would like to get a M1898AZ (98a) Carbine, and a Gew 1888 Commission rifle.

I figure the best way to get one thats priced out of the average guys pay scale is trade some guns that are easily sold.

Well by the time I paid import fees and such I probably paid fair Canadian market value. It was a good learning experience though. The one I currently have on the way was a much better deal. At least I hope.

I'm looking forward to seeing some pics of your imports. I'd imagine they are pretty sweet!
