My first AR-15 finally came, please share some knowledge

To make things worse, English is not my native language, so I will try to rephrase my question - to mount a bipod on a rail, do I need a long 12" one to mount bipod as close to the front of the rifle as possible OR
is it OK to install a short 9" rail and put a bipod on it (it would be way back then)
?

No you don't need any particular lenght of handguard, but a longer one will be better if used with a bipod, you can put the bipod where you want, but have you considered shooting with a sand bag, or any kind of bag, backpack, etc? A bipod isn't really required, unless you really need to rest the rifle on something to shoot.

I had some bayonet laying in my basement for years, I've got it long time ago because I liked it at that moment. After your post I did find it, and guess what - my AR now is bayonetfull! :D :D :D

Yes, I do shoot with sandbags, would prefer bipod though.
 
Please, last stupid question for today - if I go with 9" rail, there is a choice -

1. TRY-SRAI-MRF-D9BT (Black, 9")

To install the first one, I will not have to cut delta ring, means I can install it myself. And this one is not FF. And cheaper.

What would be your recommendation?

You could install the second one just as easy, the first one will work fine but you're losing the benefit of having one continuous rail (on top) and the free float option. both those benefits are worth the extra money and if you can afford it, spend the little extra... Also you will find that there will be more availability in the free float model....
 
There is another possible rail choice.
My wife loves her Daniel Defense Omega rail. It's one of the very lightest & slimmest free float rails , rock-solid , and very popular in the US. The Omega takes about 10-15 minutes to install and people on this site have posted that it's available in Canada now.

Yup, Wolverine carries both, DD and MI... and another girl with an AR = awesome, I think we should start a picture thread called, "Wives or GF's with their AR's"....
 
My wife gave me a condition when I purchased my AR - that she would be taken to the range a few times to use it....... No Problem! - that was easy
 
Guys, am I skrewed or what? I've got that rifle from the store used, advertaised as a bushmaster with bushmaster logo and .223/5.56 caliber, XM15-E2S.
And I liked it that way as some people say you could use 223 or 5.56 in it, whatever.
It has a cheap scope in it.
Today I removed that scope, and I found RRA label on the upper.
On the barrel it says 210-P and that's it.

Now I do not even know the caliber of the rifle.
What do I do?

No big deal, it's a Bushmaster lower with an RRA upper, odds are that it's chambered 5.56mm which isn't an issue either way (there's virtually no 5.56 available right now with the exception of The Shooters Edge's Korean - everything else is .223). Ar's are designed to be modular which means the uppers, lowers, parts etc. should be interchangeable between brands that are using the proper specification. You could, for example get an 8" barreled upper from any manufacturer and it should (and pretty much always will) drop on your lower in place of the upper you have now and function correctly with no additional tuning. This is one of the things that makes the AR as revolutionary as it is. I run my Norinco upper on my Armalite lower, they weren't even made in the same hemisphere, and they work flawlessly. Many AR's are built that way each year. Since the Lower is the registered part (hence 'the gun') you have a Bushmaster according to the CFC.
 
Nothing wrong with the RRA. I shot lots of 5.56 out of the RRA I had without issue. There should be a stamp on the barrel bear the front sight base on the bottom. This should give you the twist rate. If not there, remove your handguards and look for a stamp near the receiver.

The fact the rifle was advertised as a Bushmaster and is clearly not, is a PITA. Great work by the retailer.
