My first AR-15 finally came, please share some knowledge

Thank you, I am not worried that it will not work, I am sure it will.
I am nervous besause I wanted specifically that one, because it both 223 and 5.56.

And they say "do not use 5.56 ammo in 223 chamber - example ht tp://www.stormfront.org/forum/showthread.php?t=144981

And I already have a lot of ammo in both calibers.
And my RRA barrel does not even has a stamp with the caliber.

I believe, when I purchased that rifle, they should tell me that it is assembled one, not original bushmaster. Life sucks : (

Yes, you're completely correct about being told that it was different upper and lower. Is the F/H threaded, or pinned? if it's threaded it dates to before the ban on 5.56 rifles, and should (almost guaranteed to) be 5.56. You know, back in the old days (before the internet), we used 223 and 556 interchangeably, and most of us can still count to 10 without using toes.

Just to clarify the ammo thing a bit, a rifle cannot be chambered for both .223 & 5.56 it's either one but not both. That being said, and to keep it simple, the 5.56 has a longer chamber/ throat than the .223, so therefore .223 ammo will be safe in a 5.56 but 5.56 ammo can be an issue in .223 chambers. Also, using .223 ammo in a .223 chamber yields better accuracy potential than using .223 ammo in a 5.56 chamber.

RRA site list's 210 series barrels as 16" chrome-moly midlength heavy barrels with bayonet lug and threaded flash hider. I can't find any reference to the 'P', but then again they don't list the barrel by itself but rather a complete barrel assambly.

Your barrel is not chromed lined. Chromed lined is 212 series

Well, that's why I like to know everything about a used gun before buying it. I kinda already know everything about the rifle, so if something unusual pops-up, I see it.

But AR-15s can be tricky when it comes to factory parts and such.

Why do you feel bad about this gun??? Colt makes chrome molly guns, some think them more accurate than chrome lined....

None of my AR's are complete factory guns, one is a Bushmaster lower with a Stag upper and an Armalite barrel with an LMT bolt carrier group!!! damn good gun.

Thank you, now it looks like I want 12" MRF-CX Troy rail

so I do not have to replace my front sight.

That piece of painted metal cost more than my SKS! wow.
Anybody knows who may have it in stock?

I put a 10" Troy rail on my XM15-E2S 16" barrel. Was easy to install but had to cut off the Delta ring after removing the original front handgaurds, which was easy. I also cut off the front sight post (then painted the exposed metal with high heat paint) so I could install the the rail and continue to use the gas block that was already on the gun. That saved getting it off (nightmare) and having to install a low profile gas block. Troy has good instructions for installation - I was originally wanting the 12" rail as well but there was none coming in to CQBServices (the distributor) anytime soon. Also due to the additional weight I decided to go with the 10" and I'm not dissapointed. I'd post a pic but they are on my dead laptop.

ele2001, Don't feel bad about the Rock River Arms upper! In my opinion it's better than the bushmaster. I have 2 RRA ar's and they are great guns! Good luck on your project.

I've read through the thread, and it doesn't seem that the OP has anything to be unhappy about. I was under the impression that the lower is the actual 'gun' on these ARs, so it wasn't *really* misrepresented by the store.... right?

Also, I've been looking at a *lot* of ARs laterly, and though I'm at least a year away from having the dosh together to pick one up, I pretty much think that RRA is the way I'm going to go. Seems like a damned fine maker.
