I don't post too often but I'm always creeping on CGN.
I need a bit of info before making my first purchase For my first AR build.

Unfortunately I don't have the funds that I want for this build so I'm planning on Starting with a lower.
This way I'll have a registered lower.

I'm not decided on anything yet but I am looking at:
DOMINION ARMS
DA556 5.56X45 NATO A2 COMPLETE LOWER RECEIVER

I have a chance at buying a American Tactical Omni stripped lower ( 1st gen)but the reviews are making me shy away from that option

I missed my chance at a blemished DPMS stripped lower for 140$

I'd consider a 80% But I'd rather keep this build simple

So my questions for now are:
If I want to change the stock on the A2 would I need to buy a buffer tube and piston?
Do any of the supported dealers sell lowers or does anyone have a lead on a well priced lower?
Any suggestions, opinions or tips to help me out

Thanks for the help

Go and check a lot of the site sponsers. I picked up a spikes stripped lower for 110.00 plus tax and shipping.
Best deal I've seen to date, that being said it was the spark that initiated an initial 3800.00 spent on finishing it.

To Change to an A2 stock you will need to replace the entire rear of the gun ie stock, buffer tube, buffer and spring.
Most of the sponsers sell lowers. Questar is where I got my lower from but just about all of them do. Spend some time and research.
As for tips, put your money into the barrel, bolt carrier group, and optic. That's 90% of a quality and accurate rifle. For a barrel id look to Daniel defence or importing a rainier arms barrel from ctcs. Bolt carrier group, you can have an LMT BCG from one shot for around 240. Optic is whatever you choose but as always I'll recommend aimpoint if a red dot is what you want.

Feel free to ask any questions, be happy to help as I just finished putting mine together.

Thanks for all the fast responses and offer for help,
I did see spikes lowers but I was kinda turned off by the idea of an American dealer due to the shipping/ crossing the border.
What's the process / fees like ? Is it USPS or private shipper

Its easy I buy lowers from the US, its cheaper and you have way more selection as far as brands and models of lowers. I have a Seekins precision lower coming in on the 7th on an import. From a different company, but IRG is the same, you supply them with all your info and pay the bill and they take care of the rest. When it arrives in Canada and your transfer and ATT come in, they just ship it to you. I bought my last upper/lower set from IRG also, and I have had them delevered to my house by Canada post or Canpar

These companies that import for us, have warehouses in the US and in Canada, so your not dealing with a US only company, you are dealing with the Canadian side of their company. In some cases the product you want may actually already be stocked in Canada, and not require importation.

I'm leaning toward that option, what should I expect for cost of shipping?

Companies that I have used like IRG or ##### waive import fees on products bought from them. So you are only paying shipping from their Canadian warehouse when it arrive in Canada or if its already in stock in Canada, to you house. So for me its been roughly $10-25 depending on what else I have bought at the same time, sometimes I buy a lot of accessories at the same time so the box and shipping charges get larger

If you want read up in IRG website its all there to read the whole process

Look around on the sponsor links, try to find one you like that is being sold here in Canada, if you cant find what you want then look at IRG or similar importers. They have a wider selection, and when you get really picky like me they will even import 3rd party parts from you. So you can buy almost anything if your willing to pay the price and wait

Also check out saskatoon gun works they sell stripped aero precision lowers for around 160 I think. I've built 2 using these lowers and have no issues or complaints.

The other day I wrote another a post but apparently I didn't press post.

So thanks again for the help guys, I was keeping an eye on the IRG lowers complete/stripped but they all sold lol
I found one on the EE that I'm happy with so hopefully it goes well.
