Armalite lower (Eagle Arms with parts kit)
Armalite upper (used guts - unknown)
DPMS 14" 1:9 barrel with (I believe) a Vortex FH (used)
Troy MRF-MX 10" rail
Troy low profile gas block
Troy front and rear folding battle sights
Tango Down grip and foregrip
Aimpoint M3 4MOA
Samson Aimpoint mount
2 x C Products 30/5
5 x RRA 10rders incoming

So here's my AR.

I installed the parts into the lower myself. It really wasn't that hard. Now that I've done it once it'll be a breeze next time around. I must have launched the pivot pin spring detent across the room 2 or 3 times though to the sound of some pretty heavy cursing

The FH, FSP and barrel all came off clean. The Troy gas block and rail were a breeze to bolt on. The FH didn't go back on as planned, however. The barrel slipped in the vice block and now needs to be reparkerized... Live and learn. It needed to be reparked anyways with the bare metal exposed after removal of the FSP.

The only thing I still need is a sling set-up.

It was an interesting first build. Not all the parts are what I wanted; stuff like Larue is next to impossible to get, but I like the gun very much.

Now I've got a case of 5.56 to burn through

Cheers

I don't have a problem with the cheek weld on the old 4-position stock. It doesn't bother me.

It might not have the Larue name, but Troy stuff is good to go. The gas block hasn't been tested all that much but it seems fine. Really though I bought the rail, sights and gas block to get the t-shirt :D

Im really impressed with the aimpoint M3 4MOA. It may not be the latest and greatest multifunctional do it all optics, but for close up work that dot is quick.

Sweet looking build. I am planning something similar and haven't had much experience with FF rails. Have you used any other brands, like DD and Samson, etc.? How would you compare them, i.e. Is DD worth the extra money?

I only have experience with the parts that I have on the rifle. I don't know anything first hand about DD. IMHO, and look around at other threads as well, I got my Troy products from CQB Services and they have a good product, I recommend Troy.

The other point is availability. Larue may be the cat's ass, but good luck getting any of their stuff.
