So I just called the CFO today and my transfer is complete for my new Bushmaster Carbon 15 in 9mm, and I am really excited. I went 9mm because I am a student and wanted to be able to afford to shoot alot, and already reload 9mm. So I got a pretty killer deal on this gun, and after a couple people said go get it I did.

I have a few questions.

I am currently shooting plated bullets in my Glock and was planning on loading the same for the AR. From the research I've done you really don't gain much velocity with a rifle barrel in 9mm so I figure I should be alright. Any reason not to use plated.

Secondly I am using some rather light loads in my Glock. Would you think I would need to increase my load to cycle the bolt in the AR. I know that Glocks generally don't like loads that are too light so I would hope the same loads would function the AR. Anyone loading 9mm for an AR have any tips. I am using Power Pistol.

Third question is what kind of accuracy can I expect from this gun. I have read that the CX4 storm is pretty accurate out to 100m so I am hoping I can get some decent groups at 50m. Again any experience would help.

Thanks Guys
Mark

I bought a Bushmaster AR-15 9mm for my daughter and have run about 3000 rounds down range with it using Winchester white box WC91 115gr BEB and at 50 yards she can shoot out the bullseyes all day long.Never shot it out to 100 as she has other rifles to reach out with. Topped the rifle with a Bushnell trophy red/green dot and it has always gone bang when the trigger was pulled. She uses this rifle on the pistol range when im shooting my pistols because she isnt much of a handgun fan other than the .38 super race gun she shoots. This keeps her up at the firing line with me so its all good.
Just make sure to be careful not to let the upper slam down when opening up the rifle as the pivot point seems to be this firearms one weakness.
The biggest draw back has been after showing her how to sight in the rifle and running a box down range i cant get it away long enough to shoot it myself.

PS You might want to get the 10 round mags for this rifle= Double the fun or so i have been told by my daughter :(

thannks.
It actually came with the 2 pinned stick mags and one 10 rounder.
I am very excited to get shooting her, and hope to have it on the range wednesday.
I am going to buy a box of factory rounds but I am anzious to try my reloads in it.
Looking for any help in that department.

Your reloads should work fine. Just pay attention to the first one making sure that it "sounds right", and that the action cycled fine. Before firing your second round (so perhaps start with a mag with only 2 rounds in it), I would open up the gun and actually look down the barrel to make sure the round exited (unless you can see that it did on the target). Do that a few times (unless you can see the holes in the target as mentioned). The longer barrel on the gun will definitely give you better accuracy. You should be able to do a good job at 100 yards (but for that you may need to up your power for consistency and or use the heavier bullet). With 9mm especially, you need to watch out for the super sonic wobble, thats why a lot of the 9mm real target loads say "subsonic" on the box. Generally speaking, the 147Gr ones are subsonic usually. But at first I would say just have some fun with it. Also, Questar (site sponsor) is having a wicked special on the 10 round 9mm AR mags, so stock up.
