My First AR Will Be... The DDM4!

The complete rifle. I didn't go for the model with the quad rail. I just want to start off simple and light and build up from there plus I like the classic M16 look. No carry handle though.

There was an older Colt that was tempting.

Now I've got a Vortex Sparc and a BFG DDM4 sling coming from One Shot. JOY.

Next I'll get some LAR15/223 10 round magazines with the couplers and I should be good to go.

It's heavier grain bullets with the 1:7. Right? 62 and up?

Anything between about 50 and 77grain is fine. Just find what is cheap and goes bang if you are shooting volume, or play with the heavier stuff if you are going for accuracy.

I'd just use the 55 grainers with tac rifle... i have a 1:7 twist as well and they shoot good as anything, plus they're cheap...er

Sounds good.

Any tips, tricks, tools, guides or general info I should know about on maintaining this puppy? A dab of grease here. A drop of oil there. That sort of thing?

Run the bolt/bcg wet with a good lube. Lots of discussion threads on it, but no real conclusions. Special precautions only are necessary in very dry/gritty or cold environments.
Give the bolt and bcg a wipe down and clean the chamber and barrel when it gets really grungy.
