Well, it was a shared kill between a friend and myself, but it was my first big game animal, and his second. If I thought I had the hunting bug before, it worse now. I can't wait to get out to get another one now.

Looks like a great place to hunt also. You don't have to wear tons of cloths. Will look good hanging on the wall. One week your place, one week his place.

Nice.

Black bears are a great big game animal for newer hunters because there are quite a few of them and they are not hard to hunt or put down. Getting something done with the hide to commemorate the event is also not as expensive as larger animals, and the meat makes for some fine eating.

We're just outside of Kelowna B.C. we were hiking a trail that we know when my buddy spotted him, we watched for a few minutes until he spotted us and ran up the hill. We followed the trail around the corner hoping to head him off, and sure enough, there he was about 75 meters up the hill. He snorted at us and I told my buddy to take the shot and I would watch where he ran (I had heard bears were hard to kill on the first shot, and really tough to track. My Buddy also had a larger caliber rifle, a 30-06 to my .270) The bear made it about 100 meters before he dropped, he was still breathing, so a second shot from me put him out of his misery. Had to carry him about half a km back to the truck. It was an amazing and awesome experience. I can't wait to get out and fill our other tag, as we both have tags for bears.
