Hello All!

Well, its not secret, but I have been collecting parts for months now, trying to complete this project. I had just about had enough yesterday, and took some time off work to get the last remaining part (a small 1/4 inch x 1 1/4" Bolt, fine thread #8 hardness).

I was so excited to finally get it all together, and complete my version of a made in Canada Brobee Shotgun. The heart of this project is a 1960's vintage Rem 870 Wingmaster with some of the best machining metal, and smoothness of action I have ever seen. Just for Laughs the list of suppliers is as follows

hfp75 - 1960's vintage 870 wingmaster

BBB - Brobee adaptor and Long rail

willgaspal - 6-position AR sock, Recoil pad YHM front BUIS & folding vertical grip, & Side saddle

Stan 604- GG&G rear MAID BUIS

AACOLECTABLE - Real Remington Law enforcement 3 shot mag tube extension, spring & heavy-duty clamp.

baalan - railed fore-end

Navyshooter - AR grip with storage compartment

And a Tasco Red dot from another nutter who’s name I can not remember or find.

I will be quite honest, I have never used a vertical grip, but I am truly surprised how positive and fast one can cycle with it. I have not shot with it, but I think when I do, it will be a winner.

Further, I’m not 100% sure what the term co-witness means, but if it means that the red dot lines up with the Back Up Iron Sights, this unit seems to do it.

I would really appreciate any comment you might have, and a constructive criticism will be taken seriously.

One thing I am going to change is the barrel length. The one on there now is a real 20"er. However I have a spare barrel that I will have cut to a custom length to match the length of the Mag tube.

If you would like to see different angles or additional pictures, please let me know.

Regards and all the best.

I'm setting mine up in a similar fashion. I just heard back from Joe at Dlask, he's sent out my 14" barrell and mag tube extender out yesterday. I hope to have mine project together soon too.

Let us know how it shoots with the vert grip. I never even though of adding that accessory.

Raye:

If your talking to Joe at Dlask, I would chat with him about a railed forend.

Even if you do not use a vertical grip you can attach a flashlight and other thinngs or evern if you get it and put grip pannels on it for now.

Futher I have found Yankee hill Machine Co. assesories a very good value for the money, and I belive they will work on the Brobee CQB very well.

I have a very similar (if not exct) forend coming form the US: Ergo Grip. I also have YHM front and rear BUIS on order. I'll be mounting an Aimpoint ML3 or an Eotech 552. I haven't yet decided.

Raye:

That should work just fine !! Further I would really like to see some pictures of that Aimpoint ML3 or an Eotech 552, as well as how you feel they are superior to other red dots.

Im being quite serious here as while I am not new to guns, I am new to black guns and red dot sights.

Edit:
I just got a pm from baalan, look like he will not be making any more forends.

I am throwing the idea arround of having Dlask make me a custom barrel to match my extention, something with rem chokes, but that will be in the future.

For what its worth, that vertical grip I have is from Yanke hill as well. It their folding verison, but is very solid when seccured in place.

I was going to add more "stuff" but I like the look and feel of what I have now. I may move the grip further back.

Now for some testing of my reloads of 00 buckshot and Lyman shocker slugs.

Mr. PP:

Im not exactly sure. I need to get my box of 25 hand-loaded slugs back from a buddy I lent them to for hunting season. My buck shot reloads are 8 pellet of 00 buck with buffer.

My testing plans are somewhat ambitious. With the buck shot, my plans are to test my gun and reloads on packing paper with an old style IPSC target traces on it. I would like to do 3, 5,10, 15, 20and 25 yard tests, with 2 shot per target, each shot marked separately at two targets, all documented with pictures.

Slugs will more than likely be benched accuracy tests at 25 yards, followed with some rapid fire drills at 10 and 25 yards respectively.

This has been my plan from the start. Just trying to get all the pieces to fit.

Further I am open to any and all constructive comments.

Regards and all the best

That's a mean looking machine if I ever saw one.
Out of interest, what's the final weight with a full mag and sidesaddle (slugs)?

Dorm:

You know, I will have to weigh it, there is more metal up there than I thought, but I do kinda like it :D

That rail is all part of the adptor so you would need that unit.

As for the sights, pm incoming

I received my ERGO forend today and put it on the 870. I was kinda surprised at how short it is in length (6" long). But after cycling the slide a few times, I soon became accustomed to the feel.

Great piece of equipment! Aluminum housing and picatinny rails as well as three rubber low covers to safeguard your fingers. It should be a ball to shoot.

Raye:

My friend how did your Brobee build work out for you.

My build went out the door even before I got a chance to shoot it.

Im currious, Did you use the Eotch or the Red Dot.

I am working on my second build this time a 14"er and would like some imput
