So Sean from Northshore Barrels contacted me going back a few months and asked if I would be interested in trying one of his Broughton barrels and I of course gave an emphatic YES.

Well I have to say that after today I am totally impressed with these barrels.

If you read my post about the new build I had stated that the break in cleaning went as normal, well, after 2+2+5 shot break in I proceeded to put 35 rounds down it. I took it home and put it away for the night, when. I went to clean it the next day I could not get ANY copper to show up on the patches. The following week I was doing some load development where I put approx 130-150 rounds down it. I went to clean it the other night before heading to the Alberta Provincials and again could not get one bit of copper to show up on the patches (using a pretty aggressive industrial ammonia). I don't think any of my Krieger barrels ever cleaned up as nice as these.

So to get to the point, I took the new rifle out today at 800m and proceeded to shoot a 75 8V (out of 75 15V).14 of 15 rounds were in a 1/2 MOA high x 1/2 MOA wide group.

I came off the line absolutely stoked, this barrel is shooting absolutely fantastic. I can definitely say this will not be my last Broughton.

I would have posted a pic of the plot sheet but apparently I am having an issue uploading to photobucket from my phone, you will just have to take my word for it. :D

With any luck it will win me the Alberta Provincials and then on to the Western Canada F-Class Championships next weekend in Nokomis SK.

Thanks again to Sean at Northshore Barrels.

^^^ 6mm, of course?

I've got one of those "F-Class" 6mm barrels lying around just waiting for me to decide what to do with it. I was thinking of either a 6mm Whisper (6mm/.221FB) or 6x45mm (6mm/.223 Rem).

Good to hear your experience so far.

I have a broughton as well from Sean. I cleaned after 250 rounds no copper fouling used Butch's Bore Shine, KG 12 and my favorite Wipe Out none showed any copper Wow! really impressed as well.

My 6BR 5R 1-8" twist Broughton shoots in the .1's & .2's with 105 Bergers.
It was easy staying in the V when I got the wind right.

Is that the barrel I sold you by chance? I hope the one I kept for myself shoots equally as good. Great job!

I am using a 7mm barrel chambered in 284 Shehane.

Broughton's are button rifled and then lapped to final dimension from my understanding.

They have a VERY good reputation in the US (Charles Ballard won US F-Class nationals 2 years straight with his).

The barrel shot well at the WCFCC this past weekend....too bad the nut behind the butt came loose. :(

It is shooting well enough that I will be taking it off after this season and saving it for the World F-CLass Championships next August in Raton, New Mexico.
