Looks like an excellent job. I applaud your decision to go flint though, once you've shot a good flinter you'll never go back.
Another way to get a similar finish is the traditional " aquafortis" which I believe is iron filings dissolved in nitric acic. It should be available commercially through Track of the Wolf or Dixie Gun Works . You just apply it to your sanded stock then pass the stock over a stove element and it turns a beautiful reddish brown before your eyes. It really brings out the character of a piece of maple.
