My first center fire, and it's a SKS.

A few weeks ago I was in my local tackle shop and saw a Russian SKS. It was something I just had to have. I have had a few guns (22lr and shot guns), but none like the SKS. I love it! When I bought it I had no idea the history and popularity of this gun. (info overload)
I am looking for basic info on do's and dont's for my SKS.
I am also looking for other rifles that shoot 7.62x39. I want something I can put a scope on and shoot gophers.

There is a sticky at the top that curtton wrote, it's got lots of good info on the SKS rifle. Using your SKS for gophers... Well, you can, but there are many many better suited rifles for that job. The SKS is not known as a tack driver, and neither is the 7.62x39 round... So, buying another rifle in 7.62x39 for gophers, like the CZ boltgun isn't likely to properly fill the gopher get'er role either...
