I shot this coyote last night (March 20th) after a long dry spell of not calling in any coyotes.

15-20 minutes after starting the call a coyote began howling in the bush off to my right. As soon as that coyote finished howling, a group of coyotes started howling in the bush off to my left. I kept a close watch in both directions and 5 min. later, out came a nice sized coyote from the right. The coyote was walking along 240 yards out from where I was sitting. When she stopped to have a look at the call I set the crosshairs on her shoulder and slowly squeezed the trigger. The 80gr. Federal Classic SP dropped the yote on the spot.

I was shooting an Ithaca LSA-55 chambered in 6mm Rem. It's the first coyote I've taken with this gun and I sure am happy with it - the 6mm is a nice caliber in my opinion!

Good luck hunting guys!

sms0000 - I'm in Southwestern Ontario.

DVXDUDE - I use a CD-player that hooks up and fits inside a small 2-speaker case, my dad found at Princess Auto for $15. It is really small, light, easy to carry and the volume is good. For the call: I made a CD with sounds from varmintal.com I have both distress calls and coyote vocals on the CD. I have called in all my coyotes using this CD.

Varmit Al is great. We'll be out testing the 16 and 20 min calls. Hopefully we can pull in one as big as yours. Nice pics and post.
