My first elk. Opening day in Sask.

I'm just heading out to Grand Prairie today
This is more of a prep trip then hunting I'm hoping to get to know some of the farmers around Grand Prairie maybe do some chores in exchange for hunting axis
A big bull would be nice but I will be happy with any elk
Any one know a good Butcher in Grand Prairie ,fingers cross Lol

Are you a bc resident or alberta resident

BEAUTIFUL bull!!!! I applied this year in ontario, maybe when i'm 50 i'll draw a tag! (20 currently lmao ) It is my dream to hunt an elk! a few places around me have elk , bought some to try fell in love and have spent alot on elk meat... at like $50/kilo it adds up for a few dinners. Sounds like it was a great hunt, very interesting you were able to recover the projectile's , out of my 1 deer I have shot with a 7.62x39 (it dropped instantly 100 yards) i found lead shrapnel in the heart and lungs but the copper projectile went through sadly otherwise it would make a great keepsake! as with your case especially being an opening day a swell! Did you butcher it yourself or take it somewhere ?

Congrats! Nice shooting! Good eating and as a bonus includes ivory which I always remove  -

Not all provinces require it... And they do just fine.

Except in SK we're required to wear colors for rifle hunting, unless something changed.

Very nice bull indeed! I'm heading out in a couple of days looking to fill my cow/calf elk tag. I have a sneaking suspicion it won't go quite as easily as your hunt did Duncan!
