lol that was alot of fun. Of course it starts absulty pouring rain when I get to the range, I gotta go help set up so by the time we're ready to go im just drenched lol. But it was all in good fun. for my first game I got a 9/40. Now before you laugh I did that with my grandfathers old open sights winchester model 62 pump. I ended up with 3 Rams, 4 turkeys, 0 pigs, and 2 Chickens. So im happy with that.

I got to try out some nice scoped Silhouette rifles while I was there and that was neat. had some of the guys coaching me and helping out so all in all it was a great day lots of fun. :D

I will definaly be going back next sunday.

An awesome Shooting sport. :)

Don't let anyone talk you into thinking you can't do better with the equipment you have...yah can't buy skill, but a scope sure helps. :p :D

So I'd say you did pretty good, and much better then I did my first time out. :)

Info, rules etc...

Here is another neat info site and the front page shows you what the targets look like on the range, and the pictures section is pretty good also.

You can even download the targets in PDF to print off on Paper to get a feel for it.

Smallbore rifle is 1:5 High power rifle. 500m's for high power rams, of course they're 5x larger as well. If you ever get a chance, give that a try as well.

Hey bison! Is there anywhere on Vancouver Island yet that can support the high power ranges?

For the Highpower Silhouette, double that.

Highpower silhouette is
Chickens at 200 meters

The funny thing is that if your grandfather was using the gun he would have got 40/40.

Nope. Campbell River was rumoured to be putting something together but nothing so far. They have 600m's but apparently there's a ravine at 500.

ya my bad. I must have heard the guy wrong when he was explaining it all to me.

Well probably in the summer time. Might be able to pick up one from my uncle and just have to scope it.

if not then it'll have to wait untill im all PAL'd up in July.

I enjoyed it though, it's fun and im going out next sunday. even with my less then adequate equipment it's still fun.

the gun I could get from my uncle isnt all that nice either. It's just as old as the one im using but it's scopable and it's a singleshot i belive so it will be a step up anyway that I might be able to be alittle bit competetive with. It's a remington thats all i know right now.

I started late last year. Had a blast. Almost a dying sport around here. I think there's about 6 (7 including me  ) that shoot. I can't wait for the league to start this year.

(E)

Maybe mount the Rams on fence posts to get them up to ground level? :D
Also I'd hope someone has a Golf cart as that is one hell of a long walk. :D

Is there anywhere in southern ontario shooting rimfire silhouette? Sounds like cheap fun

Yeah! That would be great. I would be interested in that too! Maybe if there is a place a few of us CGN'RS could hook up.

Dave.

I'm a huge fan of silhouette shooting. I haven't shot rimfire in 10 years but there's a club in town so I'm planning to get the Anschutz out this summer. I believe that Territorials are in June some tiem in YK.

If you want a real giggle, try BPCR silhouette. It's the real goods.

could you not just setup at the 100m line to shoot? Guess it might be tedious getting across the ravine to reset the last line of targets all the time, haha.
