I got my first goose this year on sept 29, yes it has taken me this long to post it but i have been busy hunting. For the first time hunting goose and not really knowing how I think it went fairly well. I went to one of the lake's near by that i had seen geese during the summer hopeing that they would still be there. During the summer there were six geese, this time there was only one.I snuck up on him and he took flight but i was able to drope him at about30 yards out on the lake, so I had to use my belly boat to go and get him.Im not sure how much an average goose weighs but this one was arond 10 pounds. The goose hunt was alot of fun but the plucking was not so I ended up skining the goose it still looks pretty tasty though.

Normal sized honkers are right around 10 pounds. Anywhere from 8-13 pounds on average. They get a lot smaller though, lessers around 5-7 pounds and cackling geese anywhere from 2-4 pounds.

Way to get out there and get your first goose. Hopefully more to come.

Far right one was 2 pounds, next three were around 6 and the last two 9 pounds. Nothing like 3 different sub-species in one hunt.

Way to go with that first goose !!!!:dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

Down below I have a Goose in my left hand that was 15 lbs. The one Dad has in his left hand was 15.2 lbs.

Our Smallest was a lesser that was 5 lbs. All the snows were 7 and 8 lbs, except one that was 10.5 lbs.

Most of mine average about 12 lbs, ...

The goose you have in that pic is a fine goose indeed!!!!
NOW GO GET SOME MORE !!!!!!!!
