Well I took out my pimped Savage 110 Tactical .223 with the loads that I brewed up for TIGRRs shoot last month. Hadn't been shooting in a bit, as was getting antsy.

Well, I am knocking around the gongs, when I noticed movement at the base of the 360 yard target. MR GOPHER!! My first gopher of the season.

I was already dialed in for the distance, so I though I would wait the little bugger out......

Well it took me three shots, cause the wind was doing some wierd things as it channelled through the valley. My one MOA circle reticle is 3" in diameter at the distance, too!

Ladies and gents, I present to you, my first gopher -

I could not have done this cold bore. Nor could I do this everyday. 360 yard shot on a wee beastie is a fair piece (well for me it is) shooting from way back here!

Enjoy!

This is just a place in a valley where a few guys rallied together and constructed. We don't hold membership meetings, pay dues, or listen to FUDDS dictate what we can or can not due. All the landowner asks is that we keep the area clean up the area when done. I shoot mule deer in the same valley about 800 yards to the north

Good for you. Awesome shot. Gophers aren't considered to be wildlife are they?

I know that on a legitimate, sanctioned, and registered range - any shooting other than at your posted target is taboo. I'm VPres of a Gun and Archery club, and I don't even take advantage of it do to all the restrictions. Give me a farmers field anyday!
