Me too, I have had 10 encounters today with grouse, and only got a shot at one, should've had two but slow reaction on my part. But that's hunting I suppose, if they sat still for you it wouldn't be near as fun.

Nice. I love grouse but don't hunt them as they are getting scarce in my area, due in a large part to more coyotes around. So guess what my plan is? They are darn tasty though!

If I'm out doing wood they just flutter around and watch. If I'm hunting they disappear ASAP. Lol.....kinda like the ducks and geese that you can hand feed in the park.....where are those ones right now?

Well by the looks of the feathering I could see briefly I would say that was a spruce grouse? Yes I have shot them too but there isn't much tasty about them! Blech! Anyways hope you had fun and enjoy eating your quarry. Good shot....love that little pop sound on the video....

We wen't out today too. The forecast called for 2 mm through the day, it turned they lied...We got soaked! I slipped and buried my muzzle straight into the muddy trail and managed to slide. That means it was plugged good! I had to strip it right then and there in pouring rain and it wasn't until I got home to clean the shotgun I discovered I lost my magazine plug in the process! We only found a pair of birds, hiked 4 or 5 miles in the cold and the wet, slipped in the mud more then once and paid through the nose for gas. I can't think of a better way to spend a day.

Sure looked like a spruce grouse to me. Was the breast dark dark meat?
