I know the questions being asked numerous times, and I’ve tried to find definite answers but still need some help.

Q#1: Shooting Range. I’m thinking ADSC (it’s about 1 hour from Yorkdale where I live). They don’t have a lot of info on their web site - do they have an indoor range, can you shoot center fire rifle, schedule, fee, etc? What’s the deal with “Be advised that no application to the ADSC will begin our internal process unless it is accompanied with an approved and sealed OPP background check”? I’m still waiting for my PAL RPAL to arrive, and when I get it that would mean I’ve past the background check. So what’s up with that? What’s your general experience with the club?

Q#2: CZ 75B classic or SIG P226 both in 9mm? Putting aside the price difference (about 350cad), and the way they fit my hand (haven’t tried yet) which one should be my first? Now I understand there is no right answer to this one, so I m just looking for some input.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
 
#1 - the background check has nothing to do with your RPAL or PAL checks done by the RCMP and CFO. It is a paid check performed either by yourself or the organization to check for any criminal activity.

In my opinion find a different club. Just the 'privilege' to start the application process seems a bit of a PITA. Never mind what kind of 'glorious' regs they might have once you are granted proby access.

If you have a car look into some of the others in about the same distance.
 
This makes me love my club even more. NR at the outdoor requires a Orientation - takes half an hour. Restricted process requires the RPAL, and a little supervised shooting to be sure you won't shoot your own dk off. Then they'll put in for your LTATT and you can hit the outdoor range whenever its not booked for something else. Downside is our indoor range, 22lr only and very strict hours since its under the highschool.
 
Like my range even more. "pay here, sign these range rules, rifle range is that way and pistol range is that way". Indoor range is rated to .338 lap. (not sure why you would fire that in an indoor range but you could if you wanted). But its an expensive range.
 
I can 't help you with question 1, but I own a sig p226 and CZ kadet (same platform as the 75 just the .22 cal version) and have shot the 9mm.

First off, i should tell you that i have smallish hands and although both feel great (in terms of controls, ergos and weight), they are a little difficult for me to fire in double action mode. No issues in SA. I absolutely love shooting the SIG and everyone who's tried it seems to agree. However, because of it's high bore axis, it tends to have a little more muzzle flip than other 9's I've tried. This becomes a non-issue after a few trips to the range. Both offer .22 cal conversion kits which is great as the cost of 9mm ammo really adds up - I haven't started reloading yet. Both are easy to field strip and both have been flawless shooters. Again, my CZ is only the .22 version. spare mags are quite expensive for both - around 50.

My suggestion is to handle and ideally shoot both (you can probably do this is at target sports) and if you can't then send me a pm maybe we can blast some paper at my range. It may be a bit far (east of oshawa) for you, but if you're interested, I could also bring an MP 9 for comparison.
