Hi guys
I just wanted to share my first handgun with you.

I've always loved the single action revolver ( since I was a kid watching cowboy movies).
I finally managed to find a 1971 7.5" ruger old model blackhawk in one of my favorite calibres.

.30 Carbine

If there ever was an affordable revolver in a "Varmit" calibre its the .30 carbine. Little to no recoil and BIG FLAME.

Lots of plinking fun!
Cheers

Very nice. I'm not sure I believe the part about little to no recoil. lol
It seems quite manageable (for me I guess).
However I don't know a darn thing about handguns (I'm a rifle guy).

Maybe if I get proficient enough I'll change my name to
Revolverchair....

oh now your going to have to buy a bigger safe :)

good choice, revolvers are just so classic.

I have 5 or is it 6 revolvers now :) perhaps one more soon :)

now the good news, you can get many many many into a safe.

and they are not too pickey about what ammo you feed them not like some of those jam-o-matics

Way to go RC,

I've thought about those revolvers a few times, when I've seen them listed here and there. Factory ammunition is really reasonable, isn't it? I too, am a big fan of the big flame!

Enjoy!

Jeff.

Interesting. One in .30 carbine doesn't float my boat but the Ruger SA wheelguns are a good value. Congratulations on your first HG.

Send it to Gunner and get it chopped down to 4.5"......you won't be able to shoot it on dry days though for fear of setting the grass on fire.:)
.30 carbine is neat in a pistol, kinda like a toned down .357......

I'm guessing your age is... say 50+?

Who else chooses a Blackhawk in a relatively obscure calibre for their first handgun? :)

Either way, have fun with it! Just owning it pisses off liberals, so I'm all for it!

this handgun is a year younger than i am.
next wheel gun will be a single six, then a .44 mag
Skip the single six and get a S&W double action revolver if you are after a .22wheelgun. I didn't have much fun with mine, too slow loading and unloading as the dirty .22 brass sticks in the chambers. Sold it real quick.

Hey Riflechair. Nice sidearm. I like your choice. I only wish I could get out and shoot my own revolver....darn range got closed down, now I have to join another club. Hopefully my Webley has a big muzzle signature as well. Gotta love those flames

Not a speed demon
Invariably I don't need to shoot twice to hit what I'm aiming at :)

Bobo I'd love to get behind a Webley for an hour.
Must be something about British heritage, black powder, smoke and flame...
Range closed down?
Its happening everywhere.
We're applying for a Nominal Rent Tenure here so we can build a 1000m rifle range. I work in Tenures so I figure I should use some of my knowledge to make this happen.

I never "got" single action revolvers...

I don't see why anyone buys them anymore.

OMG... I can't believe you said that... :D

SAA's are coool.............

But if you don't want any, there'll be more for the rest of us... :p

Not your average choice of calibre for a first handgun but congrats none the less. Probably the first of many. My partner has the same gun and I've shot it on occasion. It has got to be the loudest handgun I've ever shot. At a gun shop in Penticton I see they have a new model Ruger in .44 Mag, more along the lines of a Blackhawk model rather than the Super Blackhawk. It looks interesting. Anyway, have fun.:)
