I also have a P1. I collect representative handguns, and my P1 is the P-38 action rep. I find the gun enjoyable to shoot. I've been warned that if it's shot a lot, it is possible that the aluminum alloy frame might crack. The next model, the P4, had a reinforcing cross-pin to absorb some of the recoil force. My frame has not cracked, but I don't shoot very much. My gun is one of the Manurhin-made guns, manufactured in France just after WWII, and before Walther was allowed to manufacture directly.
