My first handgun

Any particular reason you're leaning towards the PX4? Have you shot one? Do you want a re-barrelled pistol?

If you like DA/SA take a look sat something like the CZ SP-01 Shadow ($699.99 right now at CRAFM) or IWI Jericho 941. Both are much cheaper and more generally accepted, especially the CZ.

Just some friendly advice, I'm not trying to knock the PX4, I haven't shot one so I can't speak towards it at all.

I'm also looking for a first handgun. Looking for something reliable, forgiving, and easy to learn. Also looking for something that I'll want to use long term.

I was thinking of an M&P 9mm, because of the price and availability.

Eventually, I plan on having stuff in only a few calibers to reduce overhead. Was planning on 9mm, .45 ACP and .223.

Any suggestions?

I just bought an M&P 40 the other day, picking it up tomorrow!!! :D

My second hand gun, Tokarev was my first. I bought the M&P because everyone I talked said it was a very easier, reliable, high quality gun and the price was great. I plan on taking it to the range tomorrow after I pick it up. :dancingbanana:

I am also in the process of looking for my first gun. For some reason I keep on going fore the Glock 17 Gen4 or 19 Gen4. Pricey toys but I hear nothing but good feedback in regards to reliability and ease of use, cleaning, etc.
Norinco 1911-A1 is the other one that got recommended to me.

Any feedback on that...?

Unfortunately the factory stock Glock 19 is prohibited since it has a barrel length of 4.02" unless you find a "Canadianized" version. This barrel length restrictions are so silly. Like there's a huge diff from 4.02" to 4.14" that makes one more concealable than the other.

CRAFM has the glock 19 and 23 with either a barsto or lonewolf barrel installed making it 106mm but to be really honest if you want a polymer 9mm look into either the cz p-07 suty or the ruger sr-9 and m&p the p-07 and sr 9 will be the cheaper of the bunch

About 2 months ago I purchased my first handgun....an M&P 9.
I have put about 700 rounds through it already. Rock solid and no FTF or FTE's.
Some of the other members of my club who are Glock folks have given it a try and they think it is a pretty good firearm also.
I don't think you will go wrong with either the S&W or the Glock.
The polymer construction means it is lighter than a metal frame handgun too.
9mm is also the cheapest centrefire ammo to be had (even though I reload it).
Welcome to a great sport ... stay safe and have fun.
