Well I've never owned a hand picked SKS and living in Greenwood N.S dosent help...

Hope the extra 50$ for a hand picked is worth it... So I phoned up westrifle and got this one.

:D

and since it so nice there will be no tactical ninja junk on this one... With that said what are my options for peep sights on this SKS ?

I have seen TS200 Tech sight and was hoping for feedback and also do you think the Metal handgard would be a good look ?

thanks

Really nice SKS! I'm sure you'll be pleased. I really like the metal hand guard, I got mine with the shell deflector from SKSman.

I'm not big on the steel handguard but if it floats your boat then go for it. Williams makes a rear peep sight for it that replaces your original rear sight.

Nice looking rifle! Just be warned that doing some of the mods you're talking about ie Techsights and handguards require some fiddling around wth the original equipment. If I recall you have to remove the receiver cover latch pin out of the rifle, not a big deal but a pain in the ass if you want to put it back together again. Same with the handguard. You have to drift out the weeny pin holding the guard on the tube. No big deal though, but I'd get a whole other tube with metal guard installed and fit that on to your beautiful sks

emmab is correct . regarding the top cover lever , i would file or dremel the tiny pin in the middle of the shaft so when ever you want to reuse it you can drill the remaining tiny pin out and reinsert a new tiny pin, i have done that before .

I will not do anything that wont be reversable to this one...

My Last SKS was in a tapco with choate mount ect ect ect... It was so ninja tacticool that it got ghay quick and I sold it...

So Thats why I want to go the tech sight route. I will be extra carefull and take my time so I dont hurt anything.

I just ordered from SKSman the metal hanguard and red front post... and sent a bunch of email for a TS200... so if anyone got leads on one let me know...

Looks nicer than the garden variety el cheapo sks I got. Yours has a nicer matching stock with a stock in nicer shape. I would have paid the extra money for a hand picked one like yours. I don't complain too hard tho, it still goes bang when I pull the trigger and looks better than those gawdawful plastic sks stocks.

Not an easy task! Like doing a tune up through the tail pipe

I have a Tula refurb with a laminated stock which is a good shooter. I put the Williams peep sight on it. comes with a fiberoptic front sight. about $80 from Ellwood Epps. excellent sight well worth it and you can always put the stock sight back on if you want. you can find detailed instructions with photos on how to install on the net. just google "sks williams peep sight"

That looks like an authentic bayonet on there, Dilligaf. I would love to get my hands on one. Does anyone know the legalities surrounding the real bayonets? My SKS shipped with the cheap metal one that's dull, soft, and painted to look silver. It would snap the second you hit anything with it. If anyone knows where to get the real deal, I'd love to know.

I really don't get how a knife will make a gun more dangerous. If there is a ban on real bayonets, then what is the logic behind it?

Well ive never actually seen a real un-issued matching SKS... But that bayo look way better IMO...

The worst part of it is,The idiots at Canadapost have it in their possession now... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! Thats in itself is the most stressfull part... If the box is damaged in any way I will open her up right in the store... Done it before and you get some awsomme looks... lol...

I just hope there is no <> on it, a non refurb would be even better...

Depends on what you mean by a quality steel bayo? If your looking for a razor sharp Knife type bayo for the sks,I don't think you'll have any luck....They NEVER came that way. I personally would never recommend it....but:p....the bayo on a sks is fairly simple to make.If you know a machinist take a bayo to him tell him what you want....pay him his price and install. (you may not get this next bit as it's from a previous post) Then you can head out west and pin as many prairie dogs to the ground as you wish:D. I, however don't recommend any of this...but it can be done....rather SIMPLY!:p

By the way, cool avatar...In my teens Iron Maiden was tops and EDDIE King...the Trooper is still one of my faves....wow just came to me...There were some GIRLS back then who got Eddie tatooed on them....wonder where they are now....uh;never mind I don't want to know:D

Well folks I have a good update, Just got off the phone with SKSman and he stocks the TS200 ...

So for all of you looking for it hes the only one who ships it to Canada now.

That sounds like a plan. I'll look into that.

Yeah, the good ol' days when the music was good and girls were actually fun. Crap, now I sound like my dad.
