Through alot of help and knowledge from a coworker and CGN member (Silvertip13), I have started into the long range precision game.

This rifle started out as a Remington 700 sps varmint in .243.

- Sightron Siii 8x32x56 in LRMOA
- Timney 510 trigger
- Nightforce rings
- Weaver 20moa rail to get me shooting

We then free floated the factory cheapo stock and developed a load for it that it was happy with. I then purchased a Boyds varmint stock and last night we finished it. It has had aluminum pillars installed, bedded the action in Devcon, made the appropriate adjustments to have it fit correctly, and fit in a flush mount rail for my M-pod from Mystic Precision.

Im pretty darn proud of it, now to see how it shoots with the new stock!

Looks great!

Can you order the Varmint stock with the adjustable cheek comb from Boyds?

Looks like the rail on your fore end needs a little trim. :)

Also why did you put your front scope ring on the "diving board" part of your rail?

Yes you can order the adjustable comb from boyds, pretty cheap upgrade from them and seems to be well done. And the picture was taken last night after 4 hours of fitting. We applied epoxy and screwed the rail in place and was eager to take the picture and get home to dinner haha. Will file down the rail to fit flush in the next few days.

Would you mind taking come pics of the hardware for the riser? How is it adjusted?

Thanks.

I never weighed it with the new stock but its around 12-13 lbs and wouldnt want to pack that around the bush for long haha. But it was shooting decent groups with a crappy tire bipod and the factory stock. The odd flyer but I have only been shooting for a year now, so most likely I need alot more time behind the trigger.

Shaner07, that is a great looking rig. Glad it all came together nicely for you. If you would like it featured on my site, just send me more pics and shooting results. A short write up will be great too.

Consider removing that rear stud if using a rear bag. That will only dig and cause the follow through to be irratic... not to mention, tearing a nice hole in your rear bag.

I am sure it will shoot as well or better then previously. Don't be surprised that you need to tweak the load a bit with the new stock and bipod. The harmonics will change.

KS, offering a deal on custom features on Boyds stocks.

Thanks Jerry,

I had planned on removing the rear stud prior to taking it out and will email you some pictures once I get time to finish the small details. Also will get the load dialed in and send the shooting results.

As was mentioned before, since you dont need to, consider moving the front ring over the receiver.

There is very little flex where is it currently but why take any possibility of flex when you can move the rings over the receiver and have it rock solid?

Enjoy...

I also use Sightron SIII 8X32X56 on 2 of my rifles and an MPOD from Mystic. It does quite well. The MPOD is simple, sturdy and very stable.

Great rifle! Question for you....does the original rifle have a blind mag and does the Boyd stock give you the option to convert to detachable?

Original was a hinged floor plate ssetup, and that is what was installed into the boyds. The boyds was ordered with the hinged floor inletting.

On the sling stud thing, next time the rifle shows up for a visit the hole will be filled and flush cups installed in the leftside, shaner07 just doesn't know this yet!
