You hold the rifle with the left hand, and place the new clip in the receiver. Then with your thumb across the clip and the side of your palm against the operating handle, push the clip down until it catches. Like Tiriaq says, hold the pressure as it STARTS to close. Smartly get your hand out of the way with the motion like you are thumbing your nose (at Alan Rock). The springs will seat the first round.
