After a few years hiatus, I jumped at the chance to shoot in a local 50 yard bench rest match. Any rifle, any optics, any ammo, standard USRA/IR50/50 target....this was a shakedown for the 2009 Sydney World Masters Games, just to see if I could still hit the target.

The tale of the tape:

Thompson Centre R55 heavy barrel semi-auto target rifle, in .22rf
Bushnell Legend 6-18x40AO scope,
Lapua Super Club Ammo,

Beating the snot out some guys with Anschutz bolt action target rifles and Niteforce scopes......priceless!

I came in 4th place overall, with a score of 897v20 out of 1000v100.

I'm really happy with the results! Time to start building a 3-p rifle that will shoot. I think I can scrape up enough training time and spare parts to put in a good showing in Sydney. Going to be a challenge getting used to shooting over iron diopter sights again. Gawd getting old sucks!

So, how was your weekend?

Sounds great! Always nice to have a cheaper gun shoot as well as guns worth 3 or 4 times as much!

I may be going to the World Masters games as well! We'll see if I can find the time than.
