I butchered a problem one of those out of my herd this past summer. I was pleasantly surprised with how it tasted. You read internet posts about how they taste sweet but what I found is it everyone including myself could not tell it from beef. Some people wanted to call peta but most just tried it and loved it. Its a mind thing not wanting to eat it. They eat them all over europe and if youve ever been there and eaten red meat you ate it too.

I lost a friend when she had to sell her pet horse. I asked her how much it weighed and if it was trained. Once she figured out i was planning to walk it up to the gimble she freaked out. I eat horse meat. Like it better than moose meat to be honest. The dutch market in town sells it. Its also about the only thing i can pronounce in the store

I’ve had horse meant once, it was good. It was cured and sliced, I thought it was westphalian ham till my mom told me it was horse. I’d eat it again, iirc Canada is a large exporter of horse meat to the world.

Anyway, congrats to the OP on your first moose! I hope you enjoy eating it, I would love to hunt moose in the future.
