I was drawn for mule deer in my home zone this year and managed to get this guy on some land we farm. Followed him around for a few days in the evenings after work, and he always managed to slip away just when i was getting within range. Ended up getting a younger cousin of mine who's a more experienced hunter to help me out. We managed to get in front of him and got him as he was walking straight to us. Pretty happy considering its only my third year deer hunting. And if anyone's wondering about my nice blue gloves, we were about to start cleaning him and i must have forgot to take them off.

Heck of a way to start! Congratulations.

Unsolicited advice: Your jacket looks like nylon. The slippery 'shhht, shhht' sound that makes might have been what turned the buck when he got closer so a fleece/wool/whatever orange overcoat may help out in the future. Although it sure didn't hold you back this time! :D

The jacket is nylon and it definitely does make a lot of noise. I wouldn't normally have worn it but its been extremely warm here and its the lightest jacket i have in orange or white. I think i'll be getting something different before whitetail opens.

Thanks for all the congrats guys, hopefully i can get a nice whitey to go beside this one on the wall.
