I have been a shooter for 50 years. I went to Front Sight for a four day defensive handgun course. I shot a lot of "bullseye" pistol in the 70's and 80's, and shot master class but I have never drawn from a holster. Day three we have a fun plate shoot. Two shooters square off with their own set of targets. Hostage taker and two other targets. Random draw for contestants. Shoot till you lose.
First: I shoot against Al. Al is the nicest guy you would ever meet who couldn't hit a barn if he was inside it. He had a lot of practice with malfunction drills with his astra 9mm. I win the first round.
Second: After what seemed like a long wait, I have to shoot against my friend from Thunder Bay, who can outshoot me pretty much any day of the week. My ace in the hole was the tendonitis in his wrist. He clipped the hostage (gave him a pierced ear) and was disqualified. I won. Now I'm chuffed. When you shoot, you had the option of drawing from concealed or not. My friend and I both chose concealed.
Third: Another long wait. Seemed like only a few competitors left. My name is called again. I have to shoot against Brian. Brian is about 30 years old and owns his own deep drilling company and lives an hour away from Front Sight. Brian moves like water and makes 3" groups in the centre of the target regardless of the range he shoots at. I said "Here ends my reign of glory" "I might as well just leave the garment on and draw from concealed".
Beep.
Flick.
Garment catches on the gun.
Mighty flick, garment flips over far shoulder.
BANG. Brian has shot the hostage taker.
My gun is still in the holster.
Grab that sucker and yank it out of the holster all the while screaming under my breath remember your drills, remember your drills.
Rotate, support hand, safety, sight picture, trigger press, BANG. Hostage taker out of the way,now on to the far targets.
Little voice says "there's a lot of gunfire next to you". Out of the corner of my eye, I notice that Brian has missed the second target, twice!. He choked against the old geezer!!
At that point, both of us connect with the final two targets and Brian's drop first. Brian went on to win the plate challenge.

I know the only reason I made it as far as I did was my luck of the draw(pun intended). My daughter, who accompanied me on the trip, is a better shot than I am. The first person she shot against was Brian.

Now here's my joke that fits.
An old bull and a young bull come over a rise and see a herd of milk cows grazing in a field. The young bull says,"Let's run down there and screw one of those cows". The old bull says "Lets walk down and screw all of them".
