Hey guys, I'm looking to my next new experience and that looks to be a precision gun. I've done a few ARs and sporters and want to expand my knowledge. I'm looking at the MDT ACC chassis, I have a 455 in a LSS-FR which does me well and want to move up to a more long range option.
A few things to make clear:
1) I'm definitely the limiting factor in the build, I don't have the time or money to do this competitively. So know this is primarily for my own shooting. To push myself. My local range is only 100 yards but I do have a couple of friends and family members where I can get out to 500 yards. Not all that long, but the best I have at my immediately disposal. So no point in a super long setup as it would be wasted on me.
2) Top priority is precision at the range I can shoot at. Something I can shoot factory now and eventually move to my own loading setup down the road when I have more time to commit to it.
3) I'd like to be able to hunt with this, if needed: deer, possibly moose and elk. But mostly as a backup. I have a 30-30, 30-06 and 308 to hunt with as a primary, so hunting is not critical.
4) Budget, not a big issue, flexible. A couple of thousand for the gun (not including the MDT chassis or scope) I can spend more and spread the build out over a year or so. No big hurry.
So basically I'm looking for a recommendation on make, model and caliber. What would you guys suggest for a first timer with these conditions and priorities?
