They actually scan our bags before hand to make sure there are no controlled substances that are not allowed offshore in them. I thought it would be so cool to setup a skeet rig on the heli deck and shoot my shotgun off up there. Unfortunately the OIM ( offshore installation manager ) didn't think it would be a good idea for some reason. Something about my gun going boom and igniting possible flamable gases in the air.

Oh well it was worth a try. LOL.

On all the rigs on the east coast of Canada you can only smoke in the smoking break room. Knowhere else on the platform. You have to go through quite the process just to get a camera to take pics, gas detector and Hot work permit. A spark could ignite any gases in the air that have been released. When ur working out there you are basically living and working on a floating bomb.
