Well this is my very first Handgun purchase, it's a Beretta 92F that I picked up here on the EE. I also ordered the aluminium skull hand grips from GunGrips.net that I installed tonight. I'm not sure if I like it though  I think the originals suited the gun more. Also, I think the grips make it look like a toy. What do you think? Anyway, Just wanted to share with all of you, and looking forward to trying it out at the range. Oh! what's the best place to pickup mags for the 92 Beretta's?

hey man, nice toy...congrat!
I love Beretta a lot, especially the Italian ones...at least has no cheap "light'weight" plastic parts...LOL
from my personal experience with at least three Ber I've owned before (right now I reduced the herd to only one in 40SW), pistols are well balanced, a reliable & accurate shooter!
hate to tell you that, but I like more the original military grips looks...btw, this is only my personal opinion....
enjoy the gun and safe shooting!

What's the difference between the 92 and the 90-two??? Is it simply the polymer construction? I've never been able to figure that out......

Yep! the more I look at it, the more they are comming off and the old ones go back on. I have a 96D on the way that was an old police pistol with some holster wear. I might just stick them on that since it's probably dull looking. I have a friend at the range that has a 90-Two, so I'm looking forward to trying them side by side. Anyone try the Crimson laser grips on their Beretta?

I admit I've always liked the looks of a Beretta 92. Owned a few myself over the years. Starting way back when the S&W 59, BHP and the Berettas were the original commonly available hi-cap 9mm's on the market.

Yeah, back when we could legally have 15 round mags.

I think the very first Beretta I had had a Euro style mag release.

Anyway, over trial & error I eventually found that the BHP MkIII was the double stack 9mm that fit me best. And settled on that.

But I still appreciate the enthusiasm of someone who's getting a new handgun for the first time.

Congrats, I hope you enjoy your new toy!

NAA.

The 90 Two has an alloy frame, not polymer. It does have huge plastic grips though, which kinda creates the illusion of a polymer frame.

Anyway, congrats on the new gun. The 92F is a top quality piece and is beautiful to boot.

Nice! I have the Hogue wraparound ones on mine and really like them, you could try those....I like the look of the wood ones though. Now as a certified Beretta owner, you need some comments for the first douchebag that says your slide will crack and hit you in the face or that the Navy doesn`t like it so they don`t like it, or some guy in the 80`s had one that broke....and so on....I usually like to use either: lets see whose pistol jams first.....or STFU. whichever is more convenient. Cheers!

90-TWO does not have a polymer frame. It is aluminum alloy, just like the 92FS. What makes it look "polymer" is the cheap-looking plastic cover for the accessory rail.

90-TWO is essentially a minor evolution of the 92 design. The main changes are the addition of a frame buffer insert and a fully interchangeable grip (on the 92, as on most other pistols, only the side panels are interchangeable).
