I've owned a fair bit of guns in the past, but never a nice hunting rifle fit for me. My rifles have always been cheap stuff like a Savage Axis, or real beat up hand-me-downs.
Well here's my first quality hunting rifle, picked it up over the holidays. All parts were new at great prices (except the Sako sling, which I got from Salvation Army for 50 cents). It consists of:
Tikka T3 lite LH in .30-06
Bushnell Elite 4500 2.5-10 x 40mm
and Talley Lightweight Extra Low Rings
I love it! Can't wait for things to warm up a bit go figure out what it likes to shoot best.
Tell me about your first quality hunting rifles!

My first bolt action was a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless in .308win. Bushnell 4200 2.5-10 on it :)

Still don't hunt; no plans to in the immediate future, but I figured I wouldn't regret a Tikka regardless of the intended purpose.

Congrats on your new setup! Looks very practical. A fella could do much worse. How's it shoot for you?

Haven't had a chance to really shoot it much yet, waiting for a bit warmer weather! Fired a few rounds through it just to appreciate the new recoil pad I put on it, with that at least it functioned beautifully and was very comfortable.

I bought my first hunting rifle when I was 20. FN98 Supreme action in 7mm Rem Mag, medium profile 26" barrel. Wish I still had it. It was a quality rifle.

Congrats on a nice setup,.. hard to beat the old 30-06 ,.. that combination of rifle and cartridge has practicality written all over it,.. it should serve you well.
