My first quality hunting rifle!

First rifle I was given was an HVA 1640 deluxe in 243...sadly I was too young to appreciate it at the time and sold it.
Other then a few cheap newer made budget rifles, everything I have is older quality pieces now. I'd rather buy and clean up an older used Parker Hale, HVA, BSA, Win M70 for under $500 then drop $1k on something new that is half the quality of those old guns.
This CF2 in 6.5x55 is probably my favorite by far.

Beautiful rifle!

 Now THAT brings back memories, ;) from a long ways back. I used a set of the same 'universal' scope rings/mounts on my 1st Simpon-Sears 'custom' Lee Enfield. If I remember correctly, they had a good assortment of them on sale at the local hardware store. Totally forgot about them until your photo reminded me. ;) Thanks for that memory lane trip:).

congratulations on your new rifle. It will serve you well for a long time ..... but you may also regret it ... I remember my first Tikka as well; 3006 and very accurate BUT it ignited a need to buy more rifles ......... so it cost me far more then I ever thought it would .... but thinking about it still puts a smile on my face!

OP - Congrats on the new acquisitions. Good choice!

I've never owned a T3 but have had the Tikka 695/595 series rifles.

My very first center-fire rifle, many years ago now, was a used, but no abused, Rem 700 BDL in .308 Win.

Idk after taking a look at the sauer 100xt.... I think it offers allot in a verry similar price range. The flush 5 rnd mags that are of better quality and more secure attachment would seal the deal vs the tikka in my books. The mauser m18 is a verry similar rifle as well.

Congratulations on the new set up! I to went down the same road when I first started out. I would buy as cheap a rifles as I could find trying to fill every last hole in my gun cabinet, most of which were only good to shoot minute of beer can at 25-50 yards. Picked up a CIL .308 at the auction for my first hunting rifle and thought I had it made with a rifle that would put 5 rounds in an 8” group at 100 yards. Then I got a bit older and made some friends who were also into hunting and shooting and I ended up selling off most of the cheap stuff and started buying quality. My first quality purchase that I still hunt with today is my Tikka T3 lite stainless in 7mmRemMag with a Vortex Diamondback. Wonderful rifle. Will carry it till the day the recoil knocks me off my feet!

Here’s my “quality” grouse getter. Lol the optic was more then the rifle

Little badger for the win !

Hey thanks. I actually got the thing after watching Steve Renilla. He was hunting in the mountains and made a great point...that being. You always seem to spot grouse at the tail end of your hunt and with a couple “subsonic” 22 rounds you can get them grouse without alarming deer near by.

I use CCI segmented 22 subsonics. Sounds like an air rifle and at 3 lbs with the optic I hardly notice it in my pack
