I've only been trying this precision game for about 2 years now, but I have finally shot five bullets into less than 0.250" at 100 yards.

I zeroed the calipers at .308 and measured edge to edge. I know some people have a problem with this method of group measuring, but "OnTarget" confirmed this group to be 0.240". At any rate, its the smallest hole I have ever seen shot from my rifle. Normally I am shooting about MOA, so I nearly pissed myself when I saw this.

I think the new scope made all the difference. Thanks to Rick from ATRS for setting me up with the NXS for Christmas, it made it across the border just in the nick of time to slide under my tree.

Rifle : shot off sand bags
Remmy 700 5R milspec, unmodified except for a reduced trigger pull.
NXS 5.5-22X56mm
ATS rings
Kyle Precision 20MOA base

Load :
CCI BR2
Remmy nickle plated brass
41.6 Gr Varget = 2430 FPS
Berger 168 HPBT match @ 2.930" / just touching the lands

Of course, 2 years ago when I started this project I had no idea what I was doing. Its been a hell of a learning process. Thankfully there are websites and Forums such as CGN to help newbs like myself figure it all out.

I hope to repeat this in the very near future...mabey next time I make it out to the range. The load testing continues...

Ryandpahl,

its refreshing to hear someone say it took them 2 years to achieve this. I used to look at the posts of one hole targets on CGN and assume it was easy. All I had to do was start reloading . Well I'm almost a year into the reloading and have only broke below 0.5 MOA (5 shots @ 100) a few of times and never below the high 0.3s.

IMHO, what you did ain't easy and with an unmodified factory rifle to boot.

I shoot the same accuracy too but at 400 yards with 10 bullets!
When i get to the target all shots seem to have gone through the same hole as there's only the one.:D

Nice shooting! I don't think any of my guns would come close to that!

Cheers

If you would have just bought a Savage and a Tasco Target scope (cheapest one with tacticool knobs) and wallmart ammo it would have taken you 2 minutes instead of 2 years. On the internet they all shoot like that out of the box and cost 1/10th of what you paid for your rig.
Why waste all that time with good equipment? Why do all that work learning to reload?

Nice group man!

That is a pretty artsy fartsy picture. I am going to try and do some like that. Would make for a cool blowup and framed pic for the gun room. Nice shooting too
