My first rifle... how did I do?

I use 75 gr amax in my 1:9 twist... They seem to work just fine.

Hornady also makes a superformance load with a gmx bullet.



I shoot berger 77gr out of mine and they are fine. I have shot bullets form 36 up to 77gr and none had stability problems.

I was using a 14.5" barrel. He may have results like mine with his 16.5, or he may not.

Depends. Where my blind is set up my longest possible shot is 30 yards. How big of a hole do you need to blow in a deer for it to die.

I love it looks great,should be able to find a bonded bullet in the 60 to 70 grain range should be fine. Just remember practice and shot placement.

I watched my grandpa kill 2 deer with a 22lr when I was a kid. a 223 is plenty heavy enough... Esp if you're doing a headshot...

Been trying to get a range membership sorted out. I think it would've been smarter if I had got all of that done while I was waiting for my PAL!... seriously, all the places around me with rifle ranges either aren't accepting new members, or have some crazy wait list... luckily I think I found one place, but I'll have to wait another month before I can get the safety done for range access.

I did get a chance to take it out to a friend's farm. I'm not to sure how well it shoots, considering it's my first time shooting... I'm assuming if I'm not hitting, its because I'm a crappy shot, more than the rifle not doing its job.

But that's the best of it, at 100m.... Would that be considered okay? good? for a factory bolt?

I've been eyeing other rifles for my future collection...
Are the NR black semi-autos inherently not as accurate as a bolt action? Like the XCR, tavor, mr-1, su-16. What kind of groupings would be considered good with semi-auto's?

Depending who you talk to but it seems those rifles seem to be about 2-3 moa, some guys say worse some say better. Decent bolt gun should shoot about 1 moa give or take. Doesn't mean they aren't good guns just means they serve a different purpose. This is assuming you are using quality ammo.

Looks decent.. can you get out with friends as a guest at their range

Use it for bear and moose too. After all, it's all about bullet placement isn't it?? 223 between the eyes on any critter should do the trick.

Or you can do the right thing respecting the animal you are hunting and use an appropriate caliber.
