Just bought this Marlin 336 from another member here off of the EE.My first firearm of any type and not even the shotgun i thought i would buy first. Money order is going via expresspost so i hope to have the rifle by late next week or early the following week.
Now i have to join a gun club and learn how to shoot properly.

Congrats. My first CF was a 336 30-30. I think I got 6 or 7 whitetails with it. Good choice.

Now I should go dig the old girl out of the closet....................:)

hard to think of a better beginner rifle than a lever action 30-30

Ive always liked the Marlins more than the Winchesters too

congrats

Now go out an buy a cheap .22.
I'd also recommend a steel swinger target if the club you are shooting at allows them.
Nothing like the combination of the two to spend a lot of hours shooting and improving your skills without spending a lot of money.

Welcome to the wonderful world of shooting! Before long you will have yourself a hell of an addiction, and pretty soon your rifle will start multiplying!:D

Nice rifle. What cartridge is it in? Scope's not a bad idea, or a peep sight. Scope gives you a better look at the critter, more range & better accuracy. Peep sight is a bit nicer for carrying. Enjoy.

It's a 30-30 and i am just going to go with the iron sites for now while i learn how to use it but i think i will get a peep site in the future.

Nice rifle. While I've predominantly been a Winchester 1894 lever man I've always wanted to add a nice clean Marlin 336 .30-30 to the gun rack. In any case you gotta love the .30-30 ctg! Great first rifle - you will enjoy it.

Great way to start out. The big factor in getting good with it is to shoot it. Join a club and don't hesitate to get advice from more experienced shooters. If you start from a bench, don't lose track of the fact that this is a rifle that wants to hunt. Practice shooting from other positions, with emphasis on kneeling and supported and unsupported off=hand; the positions that you are most likely to use when you go out and help de-Bambilate the woods.

Oh yeah, have fun!
