Remington 700, 30-06
24' SS fluted barrel
Laminate Thumbhole stock
Nikon Monarch Titanium 5.5-16.5x 44mm

Still a virgin, but I'll be fine tuning her plenty to get her ready for next fall.

that is very unique rifle, I saw them listed in a suppliers catalog but never did see a pic. its pretty cool

beautiful rifle you got there!!!
Welcome on the forum and... shoot straight.
should work for all big game you can find in AB.

Thanks, yeah, I had been looking around for ages for something with a thumbhole stock. My buddy saw this one online and called me up right away.

not sure yet, gonna have to do some research and run some trials with different makes, types and grains.

i'm open to suggestions.

if you shoot factory ammo, Id try some Federal premium 180 gr Accubonds or Winchester Supreme 180 gr Accubonds, they're a pretty good bullet for anything from deer to elk to moose etc

Thats a nice rifle and in no way am I saying it isn't. The stainless steel is a real eye catcher with that laminate stock.

What is everyones experience with thumbhole stocks? I myself am considering getting one. My question is, does the laminate thmbhole stand up to abuse? In a nutshell, are they pretty tough around the hole in the stock?

Weird stock for what the vast majority of 30-06's are used for, but it looks cool nonetheless...

Send me a PM if you want me to cook you up some basic handloads... I love loading for the 30-06...

Firstly it's Certainly a Nice looking rifle
Myself I do not like "Thumbholes" on Hunting rifles......I find them slow to shoulder and generally "awkward" at least for me.
Target rigs sure.....they are definately Comfy from the bench but not my preference in a Carry rifle.....
Just my 2 bits.
Definately Looks Dam Nice though D3V1L6:cool:

Nice looking stock. Great for the range but not ideal for hunting. I find them hard to carry at the ready with one hand on the forestock and one around the big chunk of wood where the pistol grip normally is. You got to stick your thumb in the hole and then take it out to cycle the bolt, or disengage the safety, watched a friend try to cycle the bolt in the heat of the moment for a second shot into a bear and he dislocated/sprained his thumb when he tried to stroke his hand foreward to cycle the bolt and forgot to pull his thumb out of the hole.

Thanks for the offer Silverado, I'll keep it mind, for now I'm just gonna put some pre-loaded untill I get used to "her".

Give the Federal Fusions a try. I found them quite accurate for factory ammo, and at $20 a box they don't break the bank either!
