Congratulations. Very good choice of gun and scope. Buy some quality Lapua, SK, or Eley target ammo and I'm sure it will shoot well for you.
I don't think I'll buy any more Federal Game-Shok. Was fun for plinking my first time out, but now I want to tighten my groups up. Eley Club decent?
Very nice setup you have there. I actually just ordered that rifle from Cabelas and am eagerly waiting its arrival. Did you get yours from Cabelas as well? I was hoping to find a better price than $449 but had no luck![]()
I don't always believe the old saying that you get what you pay for, but when it comes to target ammo from Lapua (SK), and Eley that is fairly true. The only little bit of an issue is that it costs a lot ($25+ for a box of 50) for the very best. So most slide down the quality price scale and give up a little accuracy. Eley Club is towards the bottom of the Eley scale but almost certainly will shoot better than the high velocity stuff made on this side of the pond. Others to consider would be SK (made by Lapua), Standard Plus, and Rifle Match, as well as Eley Team, and Lapua Center-X. Let price be your guide. CCI Standard Velocity is worth a box of 50 to try, as well as CCI Green Tag, if the price is reasonable.
Ive found nearly every rimfire Ive owned to be somewhat picky as far as having a favourite brand, good to load up on a few different brands, velocity and wieghts and shoot some groups. Scoop up as much as you can when you find what it really likes and if possible even from the same lot#. Cci standard is a good, relatively cheap load I've found to shoot accurately in everything I own.I don't think I'll buy any more Federal Game-Shok.
