I've owned guns for over 20 years but never owned a shotgun. My wife bought one not too long ago and we did some sports clay shooting with it.

I did some research on my price point (~$1000 give or take) and decided upon a Fabarm Elos 30" 12 guage. I went down to the Shooting Edge today and picked her up. As usual the staff at the Edge were great. A special thanks must go out to Richard who helped me out (even threw in a free Fabarm hat).

The thing is absolutely georgous, I couldn't be happier. Going to take her out on Monday to shoot some clays. I'll likely post some pics.

Expect me (a black rifle guy since 1988) to be lurking in the shotgun forum now. You've been warned.:p

That tug you felt was the hook being set. Deeply. This is your first shotgun. It likely not your last

Nice looking gun. Don't know a lot about Fabarms, but you should have a lot of fun with it :D

Looks like you already have or will quickly realize that the ability to "puff" out those orange dics in mid air is much more fun than punching paper.

Smak, nice to see you opted for a double. Two bad the barrels are misaligned. LOL

Hope this is the start of a lot of fun for you. As someone else mentioned, turning those orange things to dust is pretty good, but there is nothing like seeing a mallard, pheasant, sharpie or hun fold up. Also, they all taste better than clay chips and dust.

Nice looking shotgun. How did it compare side by side with a more expensive browning ? I have never scene one in person

The higher end models seemed a little nicer, not worth the extra 2 to 4 thousand they cost though.

I had her out last weekend, no issues at all and lots of good hits. It is much lighter than it looks and very balanced.

So far I could not be happier with my choice. Thanks again to the Shooting Edge!

Here is a video of me blasting away with wifey's little 20 guage Benelli. Two hits on one clay. I was having fun....

I do believe Canvasback is referring to the fact he prefers side by sides rather than over and unders. Something about if we were meant to shoot O/U's our eyes would be arranged vertically

:p

Oh geeze.

I normally live in the black rifle forum. That joke went way over my head.

I'm learning guys.
