Why wouldn't you shoot it, I have two and shoot both, they are really fun rifles to shoot.
There is no value in keeping it in a safe, there are millions (or less) of these out there...
Nice looking rifle though...

i don t shoot with my rifle. i am more a collector than a shooter. I have no ammo in my house heheheh i love firearms but only for collection:)

how can be sure it is unrefurb ? i am newbie in this

First, where did you get it?????:d

From your pics, I'd say it IS unrefurbished simply because ALL the numbers you've shown us match both number and font, and there is no electro-pencil markings (commonly known as "forced-matched"). The stock serial numbers match the receiver and there's no line of ###XX stamping out previous numbers.

Nice score!!!!

You must now acquire a shooter and a case of ammo, it's traditional!!! ;)

thanks a lot. i bought it at my local hunting fishing store ! The guy who work at this store know me and know i will not shoot the gun and keep it in my safe so he show me this rifle ( this rifle was not on display). He said: i keep it for a collector and not for a sand trap shooter and he sell it to me.

I would keep one nice and clean and shoot another one :)
A lot of people say there are millions of SKS rifles out there, but in 10 or 20 years their supply with dry up.

Look at the Chinese Type 56 models... I paid 75 for them back in the days when they were on special and now that nobody is selling them brand new they are going for 300+.

You have a good friend in that store. From what I can see, everything looks like the non-refurbs that I have seen, but I am not very knowledgable.
The 4 on the magazine looks different from the 4's elsewhere and I have only seen one non-refurb with an electro penciled butt plate (for what it is worth)
The gold bayonet and the lack of ###x and the presence of inspection cartouches on the stock is what makes me think it must be a non-refurb.
You also have a butt trap door problem which most of my non-refurbs have as well. There is going to be some consequence to 60 years of storage!
You are now required to get another SKS and a case of surplus and do some shooting!

None of my Soviet sks's have electro penciled serials on the buttplate...refurb or not.

Remember that inconsistencies occurred at arsenal refurb as well, as not all refurbs were stamped as such.
Arsenal was also known to replace a worn/damaged part with a new part, and then stamp the new part with the rifles matching serial number...

C'mon EL, don't burst the guy's bubble - he isn't going to shoot it anyways!

I don't see the point of buying a rifle I did not plan to shoot. No fun in that whatsoever. Can't say I've ever seen an electro penciled buttplate either and that would have my "collector" radar tingling.

A few of the guys on here have the real McCoy (I'm thinking the Kurgan among others) and I am sure it wont take long for the rug to be audet from under the OP.
