Hows it going everyone. This year has been good so far. I moved to the country and started to hunt. I've been setting out snares sence the start of the season here.

But for the first few weeks I wasn't getting anything, so obviously I was getting frustrated. But then it started to cool down and the rabbits were running like crazy.

I managed to snare 6 rabbits and 2 grouse. So needless to say I'm enjoying hunting. Ill post pictures if you people would like. (I'll figure out how to haha)

How's everyone's small game hunting going this year?

I don't have any pictures of them in snares but I pretty much set them up trying to catch a rabbit and I end up getting grouse instead hah. Its really just a big fluk but its the third one so far hah.

Good for you. I imagine a grouse would be walking on a rabbit trail and get tangled, move forward and have the snare wrap around its chest.
Ive caught a few pheasant in traps, but the farmer whose land I was trapping found them first. He said some coyote must have got them.;)

Haha i had an old man take 2 rabbits on me. I caught him talking about it in the woods with his buddy. But he was like 60 so I wasnt going to be mean and yell at him. Give him a heart attack or something.

Good job on the snaring. I have set plenty of snares for rabbit, but have never snared grouse in them by accident. However, I have snared grouse on purpose. I set a snare at the end of a long pole and quietly walk up to them while they are in trees and slip the noose around their neck and pull!!! It is a lot tougher than it sounds, but a thrill when it works!
