The above pictures are a snap shot of the 200 pictures we had including does. We were really surprised with the quality deer on my dads land. We had figured out where we were going to hunt and hung our stands on August 23rd.
Day 1

On opening day August 25th my friend and were in the stand by 6:30pm. At 8:05pm we never saw a thing and got impatent and repositioned to another spot and left the stand. see pic date ad time below.

When i later checked my camera as fate would have it look what came under my stand exactly 52-minutes later. Look at the date and time and compare to previous pic.

Day #2

As we walked to the stand their were a couple does in the field we sat in the stand around 7pm and at 9pm we heard crashing behind our stand we turned around and caught a glimpse of him but he got our smell and busted us and ran off whistling and snorting.

Day #3

Sat in stand around 7pm and had the same buck as Day 1 come out at approx. 9pm and went straight towards the dugout just before dark. We climbed out of the stand and able to get a look at him but was now 150yrds in the wheat field and almost dark.

Day #4

Sat in the stand around 7pm and at 8:30pm we had a different buck walk approx 50yrds from the tree stand and head straight for the dugout. The wind was in our favor so we attempted to stalk him but he heard us coming and busted us running off. We decided to check out the dugout for a good trail and as we were standing looking at some good trails another buck was coming in to the dugout. He saw us but we quickly sat down and he came within 35yrds was a thin wide 5x5. I couldn't even attempt to draw the bow as he was standing straight towards us. He eventually caught a smell and ran off.

Day #5

Decided to change the game pan and sit in some tall grass by the dugout. The wind was in our favor but nothing came out.

Day #6

Decided to sit by the dugout again. We got out around 7:30pm. At approximately 8:15pm a cow moose came out of the bush about 80yrds ahead of us. We were hoping it had a calf as I have a draw but it turned and went back in the bush. At approximately 8:45pm Shaun spotted the buck coming towards us. We tried to film it but stupid camera was being difficult. The buck was about 25yrds away and from my line of site thier was a little shrub to my left I drew my bow before it walked past the shrub. The Buck was standing 15yrds looking straight towards me. I held my bow for what felt like forever but was about 30seconds until it took one step to the side and was quartering towards me. I aimed right in front of its right shoulder and squeezed the release. It ran about 80yrds and faded into the bush. We immediately went to where I shot it and was some good bright blood which was a good sign. We marked the spot it disappeared in the bush let it sit for 1 hour and went back to locate it with the flashlights. 10 minutes later we recovered him 60rds in the bush.

Amazingly the arrow hit and broke his front upper bone on his leg than penetrated the rib cage and went about 12-inches in the chest cavity. I was shooting a Rage 2 blade broad head. My arrow had busted but we recovered the other half in the chest cavity and the broad head was still in tact. The dear harvested was caught many times on the above trail cam pics including the Day 1 pic.

He was a good 5 point on the one side and 8 on the other. Was only 15.5 inches wide but with the split brow and the kicker has a lot of character and I was very happy with my first bow Kill see pics below was a rough score of 154 inches without deductions :

Hope their wasn't too much info thanks for looking!

Nice Buck! Every deer taken with a bow is indeed a trophy. Only problem is you've set the bar pretty high for your next one.

Thanks to Everyone it was pretty exciting and im very happy!! Never had to work that hard to before but all the trail cam pics and sitting really helped us with knowing what the deer were doing.
