My first time reloading!

I'm pretty pumped about my results with my second batch! The pics suck but here's what they are in order. I was using my Savage 10fp .223 with 60gr vmax, varget powder, and remington 71/2 sr primers at 100yds with 5 shots on each target. I don't have a chrony so I'm not sure of the velocities. I looked at every case after being fired and none of them show any signs of pressure. Any input from you guys would be great.

1-24gr
2-24.2gr ( don't know what the f**k happend here)
3-24.5gr
4-24.8gr

Good job on the reloads, shooting and the photos.
Not so great targets make you appreciate the good ones.
Plus, it gets you looking at the reason why the wider group.
If you can find the reason, well you just learned something
about you, your reloads, your rifle and such.
These lessons you won't forget which will only improve your
self confidence in this sport.

I found the biggest improvement in groups with my Savage was putting better optics on the rifle. Once I found a good node there didn't seem to be much in terms of loading that would improve it. Those Savages shoot pretty well out of the box.
 
That second group is what makes you wake up in the middle of the night.:D Good shooting and keep at it, i tend to buy all kinds of different bullets and powders to try. Keeps a guy shooting.
 
Now how do you choose between all those loads......
I guess I'd load up a bunch of the 24.8gr seeing as it's pretty much the same as the rest, with one exception :)

Mind you all youre loads are well below max, in fact your loads are well below minimum charges according to hodgden.
I suggest kicking it up a grain!!!!
 
since your new ill give ya a litte brek down

24- good group, but to much virtical stringing, this will REALLY show up at longger range

24.2 1) your rifle really doesnt like this load or 2) you really #### the bed lol, id reshoot it just to see

24.5 - getting back into a nice group but you can still see a fair amount of virtical stringing, same as 24, will really show up at distance.

24.8 minus the "flyer" there is almost no virtical stringing, which is what you want, til is by far the best load, but i would personaly try coming down to 24.7 to see if you couldnt get that group to tighten up just a bit more

very nice job on the reloading ! sure is fun to see what a differance it makes over factory ammo isnt it?
