Over the years I have found that one of the places people have issues with when groups are scattered, is their sight picture.
When you have picked a point of aim on the target (as stated earlier, there are better targets to start out with), place the tip of the front sight on that point and centre it in the rear sight so that the tops of the two sights are level. Now the part people forget. Just as you are going to release the shot, focus your eye on te FRONT sight. You should be able to pick up the details of the front sight. Its okay for the target to be a bit blurry, its suppose to be. Our eye cannot focus at different distances at the same time and the foresight is the critical point.
