- BACK IN Newfoundland and lovin it!!!
Well i worked last night out on the ranges and was getting off at 6 am, the weather was gonna be cold, my partner and i figured , hey, why go to sleep when we can go hunting....so we went out to a fresh cut over , sat down at 645 , i was in a ground blind made from fallen spruce, he walked over to the far side of the cut over and we waited, we were only there 20 minutes when i heard a buck blowing, not far from me, i thought o great i spooked him, so i sprayed some doe urine around and made a doe call, sat there for another 20 mins, and i saw 2 doe about 175 m away crossing from the wood line into the cut over, I watched closely thinking Mr buck would follow, but no, so i waited a little more and was glassing around and saw horns, my heart went threw my chest, Never have even seen a buck in my sights till today, shot a few does, but no bucks!, so i watched him walk up a ridge, and disappear, no shot, damn, 5 mins later i hear him blowing, when i look he is running towards me, closer, closer closer, ok man you got to stop for the shot i said to myself, he came to 20 yards and stopped, i fired and he didn't flinch, what the hell, he ran towards me again, 10 yards, i step out oft he trees and fire again, well there was no need he was dead on his feet, came by me at 10 feet and fell over in a fresh pile of apples we put out this morning!!!Took him with my customized Lithgow 303.
