My First Whitetail - Now with Story!

Thanks for all the comments everyone, I'm still really excited about it 4 days later!

Any guesses on score? I have an approximate from the Taxidermist, just wondering if you guys concur or not.

Did you take any measurements of the main beam length and inside width?

I would guess him to gross low 140's without getting a closer look at the rack.

Unfortunately I didn't in our haste to get it to the Taxidermist and then to the butcher. I will of course be able to get measurements once I get it back but that won't be for about 8 months.

The Taxidermist made a guess at 140's to possibly as high as 150 so I'd say your guess is pretty accurate.

A heck of a start, great first buck

He may be bigger than the pic shows, 150 is a big three point though.

Really though, he is a beautiful Buck, it is neat to know the score for when you look at other deer the next time you are out to figure what you're looking at, but beyond that, they are all great trophies.:)

...Having said that, be sure and let us know when you get him measured up.
Heck if you want, runit out to Cochrane and we will do it!;) :p

If gutted and dressed the buck still weighs 164 lbs, I'd say it's way over 225 lbs in the field. Nice buck!
